The Reviews Are In

Here’s what some of the top costume designers in the motion picture and television industry have to say about United American Costume.

United*American has made my designs come to life for both Deadwood and Mad Men.  The construction and quality of their work is impeccable.  I am constantly in awe of their magnificent selection of period costumes, and I can’t imagine working on any project without them.

I can’t imagine costuming a period film without using American Costume. Its stock is one of the most pristine and genuine anywhere. The staff is warm and knowledgeable. The clothes are fastidiously maintained or reproduced with authenticity. I love walking in there.

I became a Costume Designer in the early 70’s and my first show number at American is ‘001’ – I was their first customer. Over the years I’ve done many films out of their stock and have put many costumes on their racks.  I’ve watched it grow from a small rental unit into one of the world’s premier costume houses with some of the world’s best clothes. They specialize in Historical costumes and multiples for cast. Their taste is impeccable, and their woman’s section is to die for. Their tailor shop is ultra-professional, and we all joke that it’s kept so clean, “you could eat off the floors.”

Sam Elliott July 8 014“The best costume house in Hollywood.”

In reference to Luster he says, “He has the best period costumes around. I have been working with him since ‘The Sacketts.’ He and I always talk about the hat – get the hat right and the rest of it just follows along.”

United*American Costume Rentals is my home away from home.

Whenever I am in town on a project I enjoy setting up our office space at the Fulton street location. The staff is incredibly helpful  and the space is thoughtfully set up to accommodate all costume needs.

I have worked on projects large and small with American as a partner in facilitating sometimes the tallest of orders. Their  ability and enthusiasm to work creatively with designers has made many of my projects possible.

Pulling costumes from American’s two locations is a joy as the stock in both is kept very organized and clean and has been curated with a skillful eye.

Thank you American  for being a one stop for all my costuming needs!
